The weather was still pretty warm, or better – hot – when Milinda and Wayland let me come along and photograph while they were ‘pulling’ some clams. This involved searching around the clam lease, on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, and locating, gathering, and hoisting heavy clam bags aboard the boat. I don’t think anybody has ever measured the weight of a wet, full bag of clams, fresh off the Gulf bottom, but I would guess that it easily exceeds 100 lbs. This photo caught Milinda coming up for air after diving to locate some bags. When not working on the water, Milinda is an artist and designer.
